The Vietnamese delegation is led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh.
Mr. Doanh said Vietnam also asked Australia to provide specific requirements on veterinary hygiene for meat products, eggs, milk, and milk-based products.
“Most Vietnamese agricultural products don’t directly compete with local items. So this is a good opportunity for us to increase our export revenue. Vietnam now is a major importer of farm produce from Australia. On the other hand, Vietnam has many kinds of tropical agricultural products and specialties to export to Australia,” Doanh said.
Australian Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and Water Resources Malcolm Thompson said the two sides should discuss opening markets for vegetables, fruits, and other farm produce.
During their stay in Australia, the Vietnamese delegation had a working session with Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources David Littleproud.
